Meanings:
Sandeq Boat is a symbol of the maritime importance of the West Sulawesi region. The greatness of the Mandar sailors was evidenced by the construction of its legendary boat. Sandeq endures big waves and was considered the masterpiece of boat building in ancient times. Mandar ancestors used the boat to sail across the continent in Asia and Africa.

Woven Batik Production Process in West Sulawesi
Batik production can take 1 month up to 2 years of working time depending on the purposes of the textile creation and the colour complexity. The Batik handwriting textile is generally made with 8 design steps, ranging from wax patterning to colouring process. The artists use Canting, as a tool to put hot melted wax on the cloth.

West Sulawesi is known as the land of Mandar tribe. West Sulawesi is one of the first regions in Indonesia that recognized the democracy system since the era of Todilalang King in the 16th Century.
